Rochelle Wong, MD is a dedicated gastroenterologist at Digestive Disease Consultants of Orange County with locations in Irvine, Tustin, Mission Viejo, and Huntington Beach, California. She is dual board-certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Born and raised in Irvine, Dr. Wong is excited to return to her hometown to practice medicine. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Theater from UCLA, followed by her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency and a Chief Residency at Cornell in New York, before returning to Southern California for her Gastroenterology/Hepatology fellowship at University of Southern California (USC).
Dr. Wong understands that being sick can be an incredibly vulnerable and uncertain time for patients. She was drawn to medicine by a desire to understand how disease affects the body, but also to help patients feel informed, supported, and cared for through difficult moments. By building strong, trusting relationships through kindness and shared decision-making, she strives to make complex or frightening diagnoses feel less overwhelming and more understandable. Her background in both the sciences and the arts has shaped her belief in caring for each patient as a whole person, with compassion and curiosity, recognizing that no one is defined simply by their disease.
Her interests lie in colorectal cancer prevention, hepatitis B and C, and cirrhosis care, fatty liver, GI dysmotility, in addition to esophageal, stomach, small bowel, gallbladder, and pancreas disorders. She performs high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and colonoscopy, as well as high-resolution manometry, BRAVO pH and impedance testing, and capsule endoscopy.
Dr. Wong has earned numerous awards, including AASLD Emerging Liver Scholar and American College of Physicians Podium Winner for High Value Care. She is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, and American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society.
Outside of work, she enjoys trying new hot pot restaurants, golfing, scrapbooking, and watching true crime and Broadway shows. Dr. Wong is fluent in Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and Cantonese.
