About Dr. Heba Ashraf
Heba Ashraf, MD, FACP is a gastroenterologist at Digestive Disease Consultants of Orange County with locations in Irvine, Huntington Beach, Tustin and Foothill Ranch, California. She is dual board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
She specializes in management of a wide array of gastrointestinal diseases including GERD, liver diseases/cirrhosis and inflammatory bowel disease. In addition to performing diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower endoscopy, Dr. Ashraf also performs High Resolution Manometry, EndoFlip, pH testing and Capsule endoscopy.
She is a member of American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and American Association for the study of Liver Diseases (AASLD).
Dr. Ashraf grew up in New Jersey spending her days either at the shore or in the nearby cities. She went to Rutgers University then completed her medical school at Baqai Medical University in Pakistan. She completed her internal medicine residency at Beaumont Hospital in Michigan. After residency she became one of the first GI hospitalists at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She then completed her GI fellowship at Michigan State/Ascension Providence Hospital.
She developed an interest in gastroenterology and nutrition early in her medical training. She has a fond interest in women’s health and prevention of gastrointestinal cancers. She believes her role as a physician is to provide her patients with accurate information and work as a team to accomplish their goals and improve overall health and well-being.
Dr. Ashraf has earned numerous awards throughout her medical career including Wayne State University Resident teaching award, Beaumont Resident Research Day Winner, and ACG Outstanding Poster Presenter.
Outside of work, she spends her time traveling and spending time with her 4 siblings. She also loves hiking and cooking. Dr. Ashraf is fluent in English, Urdu and Hindi.
